Frequently asked questions
Both our ceremony and reception are held at Lochend Woolshed (261 Tomahawk Road, Tomahawk, Dunedin). As you can see from the map layout, the venue is located just off the main road. Once you turn off Tomahawk Road, you will follow a dirt road up through some slight hills to reach the woolshed. While the venue itself is fully accessible, moving between spaces involves navigating some flat lawn, gravel pathways, and the sloped terrain of the property.
Complimentary Bus: The bus will arrive for boarding at the Dunedin Railway Station at 2:25 PM and will depart promptly at 2:40 PM. Please ensure you are there on time so we can keep to our schedule!Driving & Overnight Parking: If you prefer to drive yourself, Lochend Woolshed has ample free parking available on-site at the top of the driveway. You are welcome to leave your car overnight if you want to take the bus or hitch a ride home, but all vehicles must be collected before 9:00 AM the following morning.
Please note that mobile coverage is very spotty at Lochend Woolshed. Cellular service is generally only available at the top carpark. We highly recommend downloading any maps or saving your transport details before heading out to the coast!
We are having an unplugged ceremony. We have hired an incredible professional photographer to capture this special moment, so we kindly ask that you put your phones and cameras away and be fully present with us until we are officially married. Once the ceremony is over and the drinks are flowing, please feel free to take as many photos and videos as you like!
The ceremony begins promptly at 3:30 PM. For guests driving themselves, please arrive from 3:00 PM to grab a complimentary welcome drink and ensure everyone is seated by 3:20 PM.
The dress code is Formal, but above all, we want you to be comfortable.A note on the weather: Lochend Woolshed is right on the coast, and Dunedin's spring weather is famously changeable! In early November, we typically expect daytime temperatures around 14°C–16°C. However, because the venue is exposed to coastal winds, it can feel much cooler if the breeze picks up. We highly recommend bringing a heavy jacket, warm blazer, or wrap to keep the wind chill at bay.A note on footwear: Because we will be utilizing outdoor areas with lawns, gravel pathways, and slight hills, stiletto heels are definitely not recommended! We suggest opting for block heels, wedges, or stylish flats so you can comfortably move around the property and hit the dance floor.
We have shared a color palette to give you a feel for the day's styling (also listed below). Please note that this is purely an optional guide to help inspire your outfit choice, not a strict requirement. We want you to wear whatever makes you feel fabulous.
Our wedding is an intimate celebration of 50 guests. We can only accommodate the guests explicitly named on the invitations, and the day will be child-free with the exception of immediate family.
Following the ceremony, we will be cutting the cake and firing up a coffee and tea cart! While we slip away for photos, please enjoy our cocktail hour featuring a punch bowl and frozen slushies alongside grazing platters. We will then all sit down together for a delicious, banquet-style meal. All dietary requirements submitted during RSVPs have been passed along to our caterers to ensure you are well looked after.
Yes! The bar is fully funded by us. We will be providing a selection of beer, wine, and Pals RTDs, alongside our cocktail hour frozen margheritas. Please note that the bar will be stock-contained and we will not be serving spirits, so there is no need to bring cash or EFTPOS cards along.
We are keeping our formal speech schedule quite brief during dinner so everyone can relax and enjoy their meal. Because of this, formal speeches are limited to a select few people and must be arranged with us or our MC prior to the wedding day. However, we absolutely welcome and invite informal toasts! If you would like to raise a glass and share a quick, heartfelt wish during the evening, we would love to hear it.
The party wraps up inside at 11:00 PM as we head outside for sparklers and our final goodbyes! The return bus will depart the venue promptly at 11:15 PM to take everyone back to the railway station. Check out the wedding timeline here.
Celebrating with us is the greatest gift we could ask for! If you wish to honour us with a gift, we will have a wishing well at the reception for cards, well-wishes, and contributions toward our honeymoon fund.
We have fine-tuned our timeline to maximise party time! You can view the exact schedule of events right here on our website.
